Scatterbrain: a letter from the 1990s
Generational generalisations; digital burrows; the end of American cultural hegemony
OK boomer
Few pop-theoretical inanities I find more irritating than generational generalisations. See for example boomers. In Angloland, boomers are regularly portrayed as a demographic of spoilt adult brats who got life served on a plate. But as soon as you start to look at issues like class, race, gender, sexual preference, etc, it becomes clear that this isn’t always an accurate proposition. And if you throw geography into the equation this kind of generalisation is even more ludicrous.
